For those who need help
What kind of help can I receive through Breakthrough Houses?
Breakthrough Houses supports at-risk families via two different programmes; low-needs residential– a long term housing solution for families who are struggling and need support to find affordable, safe housing – and intensive-needs residential, for families in crisis who need broader and more concentrated assistance.
The intensive-needs residential programme is a live-in solution where families live in Breakthrough House. Professional live-in assistance and supervision are provided. This is an intensive programme aimed at healing deep wounds and requires a great deal of work and emotional input on the part of the family.
Eligibility is determined at an interview with Breakthrough Houses. It is based on the severity and type of your family’s needs. Please contact us on 02 9621 3964 and we will discuss your situation and decide how to proceed.
Who can apply to Breakthrough Houses?
We exist to serve individuals who are in need and who want to make changes, and families with dependent children and who are in desperate need of help to manage their housing situation or who are seeking help to avoid the breakdown of the family unit.
Can we live at Breakthrough House?
We do offer a residential programme for families in crisis where professional live-in assistance and supervision are provided. This is an intensive programme aimed at healing deep wounds and requires a great deal of work and emotional input on the part of the family. Please contact us to discuss your needs.
Do I need to live at Breakthrough House to receive help?
No. We may be able to help you in other ways. As well as providing housing as part of a residential program, Breakthrough Houses has weekly community programs that offer support and counselling for many areas including alcoholism, divorce, sexual abuse, co-dependency, domestic violence, drug addiction, sexual addiction, food addiction and gambling additions. We also utilise many helpful programs offered by Family Life Ministries.
Please contact us to find out other ways that we can help you. If there is something that we cannot help you with we will be able to tell you who to contact.
Is there a minimum/maximum time we can stay at Breakthrough House?
The length of time that a resident can stay at Breakthrough House is judged on a case-by-case basis and includes consideration of the resident’s needs and counselling.
What will be expected of my family?
When you are part of the Breakthrough Houses programme, your family is required to live within the strict rules and under supervision. We are here to help but we will only help those who truly need it and are prepared to work with us 100%
Breakthrough Houses families are expected to attend all appointments, adhere to the full programme and also carry out chores. Children will attend school as per usual. Parents will receive assistance in being regularly employed and will also perform regular household duties.
